How To Apply
ELIGIBILITY
Any composer is eligible to apply.

APPLICATION MATERIALS
Through the online application form, composers should submit a permanent link
to one (preferably Dropbox or Google Drive) folder, which should contain the following:
→ Submitted works could be of any instrumentation.
→ At least one recording is required. Submitting two recordings is preferable.
→ Midi recordings will not be accepted.
→ All recordings should strictly be in MP3 format. Provide links to videos.
→ For Category A Applicants: At least one work for acoustic instruments and electronics is required.
→ Entries with expired or non-functional links will be automatically rejected.
APPLICATION FEE
An application fee of €15 should be payable through Paypal to ilsuono.academy@gmail.com
In case the applicant cannot proceed to and/or complete the payment of the application fee through Paypal,
an alternative payment option would be through bank transfer to the following account:
• CV and Bio (.pdf) in English, combined in one file
• 2 Recent Works [scores (.pdf) - audio (.mp3) - links to videos]
• HQ Artist Photo (.jpeg) to be used in case of acceptance
• Receipt of payment of €15 application fee (.pdf)
PREFERRED CATEGORY
In the application form, the applicant will be asked to choose the category
[Category A: Mixed Media or Category B: Acoustic]*
for which they are applying.
*If the applicant wishes to be considered for both categories, they will need to submit two separate applications,
submitting the application fee twice.

NOTIFICATION
Selected applicants will be notified by the end of January 2024.

FULLY ACTIVE PARTICIPANTS
[12 will be selected]
All Fully Active participants get:
-
2 private lessons with the resident/guest composers
-
a presentation of their compositional work
-
3 rehearsals + dress rehearsal of the new work
-
premiere of the new work in one of the two final concerts
-
recording and video of both the dress rehearsal and concert performance of the new work (by end of September 2024)
- attendance in all the events of the academy
Details of the new works:
-Score and parts must be submitted via email by May 15, 2024.
-The duration should strictly not exceed 8'.
-Upon acceptance, composers will be asked to send three different instrumental line-ups, for which they would like to write.
Course Fee:
500€
The fee should be paid in two portions:
- €350, following the notification of acceptance.

- €150, upon the submission of the new work, on May 15, 2024.
*Course Fees do not go towards the coverage of any accommodation, board, or travel expenses of the participant. Fees are non-refundable.
PARTIALLY ACTIVE PARTICIPANTS
[4 will be selected]
The selection committee will give the opportunity to 4 composers to attend the academy as Partially Active participants, who will write a short piece to be worked on and premiered by the participants of the performance program.
All Partially Active participants get:
-
2 1hr rehearsals of the new work
-
recording and video of both the dress rehearsal and concert performance of the new work (by end of September 2024)
-
1 private lesson with the resident composer
-
attendance in all the events of the academy
Details of the new works:
-Score and parts must be submitted via email by June 25, 2024.
-The duration should be strictly no longer than 3'.
Course Fee:
220€
The fee should be paid in full following the notification of acceptance.

Note: No requests for special lighting and/or visuals will be accommodated.
Stage Setup*:
*For the best possible recording conditions, the position of the instrumentalists is to remain fixed for all the pieces as shown above. No requests for stage rearrangements will be accepted and, consequently, movement of the performers during the performance of the works will not be possible whatsoever.
Additional Information
ACCOMMODATION & EXPENSES
The organization will not cover accommodation, board, or travel expenses.
Those expenses will be covered by the participant.
