How To Apply
ELIGIBILITY
Any composer is eligible to apply.
APPLICATION DEADLINE
DECEMBER 15, 2026
(by 11:59pm, Eastern European Time)
APPLICATION MATERIALS
Through the online application form (link below), composers should submit a permanent link
to one (preferably Dropbox or Google Drive) folder, which should contain the following:
→ Submitted works could be of any instrumentation.
→ At least one recording is required. Submitting two recordings is preferable.
→ Midi recordings will not be accepted.
→ All recordings should strictly be in MP3 format. Provide links to videos.
→ For Category A Applicants: At least one work for acoustic instruments and electronics is required.
→ Entries with expired or non-functional links will be automatically rejected.
APPLICATION FEE
An application fee of €15 should be payable through Paypal to ilsuono.academy@gmail.com
In case the applicant cannot proceed to and/or complete the payment of the application fee through Paypal,
an alternative payment option would be through bank transfer to the following account:
• CV and Bio (.pdf) in English, combined in one file
• 2 Recent Works [scores (.pdf) - audio (.mp3) - links to videos]
• HQ Artist Photo (.jpeg) to be used in case of acceptance
• Receipt of payment of €15 application fee (.pdf)
PREFERRED CATEGORY
In the application form, the applicant will be asked to choose the category
[Category A: Mixed Media or Category B: Acoustic]*
for which they are applying.
*If the applicant wishes to be considered for both categories, they will need to submit two separate applications,
submitting the application fee twice.

Selected applicants will be notified by mid February 2027.

FULLY ACTIVE PARTICIPANTS
[8 will be selected]
All composition participants write new works to be rehearsed and premiered by a chamber ensemble participating in the performance program of the academy. All sessions are guided and supervised by the members of the resident ensemble Suono Giallo.
All Fully Active participants:
-
write a new work
-
get two private lessons with the composers/tutors
-
present their work to their peers and tutors
-
get 2 1-hour rehearsals + dress rehearsal of the new work
-
get the premiere of the new work in the final concert
-
get the recording and video of both the dress rehearsal and concert performance of the work (by October 2027)
- attendance in all the events of the academy
Details of the new works:
-The assigned instrumentation will be communicated to the selected composers after the confirmation of the ensemble groups participating in the performance program.
-Score and parts must be submitted via email by May 9, 2027.
-The duration should strictly not exceed 8'.
Course Fee:
500€
The fee should be paid in two portions:
- €350, following the notification of acceptance.
(further instructions will be provided via email)
- €150, upon the submission of the new work, on May 9, 2027.
*Course Fees do not go towards the coverage of any accommodation, board, or travel expenses of the participant. Fees are non-refundable.
PARTIALLY ACTIVE PARTICIPANTS
[4 will be selected]
All composition participants write new works to be rehearsed and premiered by a chamber ensemble participating in the performance program of the academy. All sessions are guided and supervised by the members of the resident ensemble Suono Giallo.
All Partially Active participants:
-
write a new short work
-
get private lessons with the composers/tutors
-
present their work to their peers and tutors
-
get a 1-hour rehearsal of the new work
-
get the premiere of the new work in the final concert
-
get the recording and video of the concert performance of the new work (by October 2027)
-
attendance in all the events of the academy
Details of the new works:
-The assigned instrumentation will be communicated to the selected composers after the confirmation of the ensemble groups participating in the performance program.
-Score and parts must be submitted via email by June 10, 2027.
-The duration should be strictly no longer than 3'.
Course Fee:
220€
The fee should be paid in full following the notification of acceptance.

Note: No requests for special lighting and/or visuals will be accommodated.
*For the best possible recording conditions, the position of the instrumentalists is to remain fixed for all the pieces as shown above. No requests for stage rearrangements will be accepted and, consequently, movement of the performers during the performance of the works will not be possible whatsoever.
Additional Information
ACCOMMODATION & EXPENSES
The organization will not cover accommodation, board, or travel expenses.
Those expenses will be covered by the participant.

The lessons, masterclasses, presentations and rehearsals take place at:
